Everyday C-Log 2 → Rec.709 LUT
One-Click Conversion & Natural Grade
This LUT is designed as an everyday starting point for Canon C-Log 2 footage. It combines a clean Rec.709 conversion with balanced exposure and a natural, pleasing grade — making it a simple drag-and-drop solution for fast workflows.
It will get your image around 90% of the way there. Minor adjustments such as contrast, highlight recovery, or shadow lifting may still be required depending on the clip.
Usage Guidelines (Important)
This LUT is designed to be applied to correctly exposed C-Log 2 footage only.
For best results, ensure your footage is:
Properly exposed (not under or overexposed)
Correctly white balanced
Shot in Canon C-Log 2 (this LUT will NOT work correctly with C-Log, C-Log 3, or other log profiles)
Always perform exposure and white balance adjustments BEFORE applying the LUT.
Colour Pipeline
This LUT includes the Log → Rec.709 conversion and a base grade.
Apply this LUT directly to C-Log 2 footage
No additional Rec.709 conversion LUT is required
If using a node-based workflow, apply this LUT on a single node after exposure/WB correction
If using adjustment layers, apply this LUT directly to the clip or adjustment layer
Important Notes
This LUT is not designed to work perfectly in every lighting condition - But it will do a pretty good job.
It is intended as a fast grade to make any scene look nice, if you want a different colour grade such as greener shadows then please apply this before the LUT for accurate results.
Fine-tuning after applying the LUT may be expected depending on exposure and lighting, including:
Contrast adjustments
Highlight recovery
Shadow lifting
